Parcelit became a reality in late 2018 with the idea of  building a platform where entrepreneurs can sell and distribute their products from anywhere in the world through Parcelit. Meet The Founders

Alex Schmitt

Co-Owner & Founder

Tired of struggling financially and seeing many of his friends lose their jobs during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, Alexandre Schmitt set his mind to changing his life, as well as the lives of those around him. Determined to build an enterprise that would not only provide him with financial freedom but also offer opportunities to some of his closest friends, he partnered with best friend Cyle Obermeyer to create Parcel iT. Alex’s 20 years of experience in sales, retail, e-commerce development, Google and social marketing merged with Cyle’s extensive IT experience, and Parcel iT was born – an online solution for small to large online retailers. As Chief Executive Officer, Alex oversees the overall operations as well as handling new business and client meetings. Alex believes strongly that employees are a company’s support structure and that a company can only grow if the structure is strong. His goal is for Parcel iT to become South Africa’s number one e-commerce and online marketplace fulfilment centre for small to large B2C and B2B retailers.

Cyle Obermeyer

Co-Owner & Founder

Cyle Obermeyer is the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Parcel iT Fulfilment Solutions, a third-party logistics company providing scalable outsourced e-commerce warehousing and fulfilment for online business. After spending 15 years in the IT industry, the latter half of that focusing on the Internet of Things, Cyle recognised a gap in the market servicing small to medium-sized e-commerce businesses with cost-effective and personalised service. He founded Parcel iT with partner Alex Schmitt, both of whom are passionate about providing a platform where entrepreneurs can start up their online store anywhere in the world at a reasonable monthly cost. Cyle runs the day-to-day operations of the company.

Meet The Team

Hannes Grobbelaar

Senior Warehouse Administrator

Hannes Grobbelaar’s role at Parcel iT involves overseeing goods in receiving, website connectivity to the order management system Mintsoft, stock control, advance shipping notice (ASN) creation, collection bookings, the uploading of products, the picking/packing of orders and managing the staff. Hannes is trained in quality control and the use of precision measuring equipment, and is a certified overhead crane and counter-balanced forklift truck operator. With two years of supervising and management experience under his belt, Hannes now enjoys the added challenges of uploading products received onto the website, SKU creation, barcoding and using the warehouse management system to ensure the smooth movement of stock. Customer satisfaction is very important to him, and his goal is to see Parcel iT grow to be the nationwide number one fulfilment company.

Gary Haskins

Warehouse Administrator

As Warehouse Administrator, Gary Haskins oversees all the orders and the manages the distribution of inventory. His duties include Takelot compliance preparation, u-Africa processing, barcoding, the packaging of orders, courier liaison, customer service, stock management and invoicing. Gary is trained in operational management, business writing skills, occupational health and safety and completed a CHEP portfolio management course. Service delivery and client satisfaction are important to Gary, and he strives to bring both these elements to the highest level. He believes in Parcel iT’s vision and aspires to grow with the company, ideally until retirement.

Melissa Pretorius

Head of Finance

Melissa Pretorius is a registered Associate General Accountant (SA) and her role is to oversee the accounts of the company and ensure that all tax-related obligations are met.  She has a BCompt Honours Degree in Accounting, a Masters Degree in Tax and did her Chartered Accountant articles at Moores Rowland. Melissa has worked in the tax and accounting arena for 16 years. Her aim at Parcelit is to help the company prosper, making sure it remains compliant and financially stable in the process.
